Sharon Kay Sutton, 83, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, Iowa.
 
Sharon was born July 26, 1940 in Dallas City, the daughter of Don and Joan (Curtis) Hancock. On August 15, 1959 she married Ron Sutton. 
 
Besides Ron survivors include one daughter: Kelly (Craig) Petersen of Burlington, Iowa; two grandchildren: Curt Petersen and Kayla (Brian) Danielson; three great-grandchildren: Peter, Edward and David Danielson; two half-sisters: Terry Poston and Jerri Hancock and several nieces and nephews. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law: Darla and Jerry Newberry and one nephew: Michael Newberry. 
 
Sharon was a 1958 graduate of Dallas City High School. She stayed at home while her daughter was young. She later worked for the United States Postal Service, where she retired from. She was an amazing seamstress, an avid reader and a lover of cats. 
 
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
 
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with interment to follow at Harris Cemetery. 
 
A memorial fund has been established for PAWs Animal Shelter. Memorials may be left later at the service or sent to the Sharon Sutton Memorial Fund, c/o Banks & Beals Funeral Home, P.O. Box 70, Dallas City, Illinois 62330
