Eric Dennis Brumbaugh, 48, of Joliet, Illinois passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his home. He was born November 13, 1973 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Dennis and Kathy Ferrill Brumbaugh.

He was a 1991 graduate of the Dallas City, Illinois High School and received his bachelors degree in Geology from Western Illinois University in 1995. He also served in the National Guard. Eric worked as a land surveyor. He enjoyed reading, music and nature. Eric was an avid writer and was a member of writing clubs. He loved to play the guitar and often sang for nursing home residents. Eric was a member of the Burnside Christian Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Sadie Brumbaugh of Naperville, Illinois, his mother, Kathy Brumbaugh of Dallas City, one sister, Amy (Irakli) Shengelia of St. Louis, Missouri, one brother, Adam (Heidi) Brumbaugh of Geneseo, Illinois and seven nieces and nephews, Nikolas, David and Max Shengalia and Aubrey, Jackson, Liberty and Annika Brumbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Mark Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Foundation for Alcoholism Research, Inc (FAR).
