Ralph LaVerne Todd, 72, of Terre Haute, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Ralph was born July 20, 1950 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Floyd Thomas and Hilda H. (Worley) Todd. On September 19, 1972 he married Beth Burr at the Lomax Nazarene Church, Lomax, Illinois.
Ralph attended school in LaHarpe. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a Bronze Star Medal recipient. He worked for J.I. Case in Burlington, Iowa, for 30 years. He worked in various departments at J.I. Case and enjoyed the challenge of starting a new position. Following his retirement he volunteered in the community, including helping with Henderson County Hospice, Vacation Bible School and the Food Pantry. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion and the Grace Bible Church in Dallas City, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.
Survivors include his wife: Beth; one daughter: Christa (Dan) Jack of Terre Haute; 3 granddaughters: Amanda (George) Hash, Emma (Jacob) Shaw and Jessie (Patrick) Bush; 5 great-grandchildren: Izzy, Aly, Livy, Ella and Abe and one on the way. Also surviving are 6 siblings: Beverly (Ron) Johnson of LaHarpe, Bob (Carolyn) Todd of Cuba, Missouri, James (Sarah) Todd of Terre Haute, Debbie (Larry) Detherage of LaHarpe, Tom (Dawn) Todd of LaHarpe and Jane (Jim) Stonger of LaHarpe.
He was preceded in death by one son: Jamie Burr Todd; twin sons in infancy: Adam Thomas Todd and Jeremy Michael Todd, his parents and 3 sisters: Ellen Lowe, Vera Bozarth and Barbara McCoy.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Grace Bible Church in Dallas City with Pastor Larry Menschel and Ralph’s nephew, Nate Todd, officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in Durham Cemetery, Durham, Illinois.
A time of food and fellowship will follow in the fellowship hall.
