Area girls get IGCA post-season honors

LEE COUNTY - Three area high school softball players were honored on the Iowa Girls Coaches Association all-state and all-district teams.
Central Lee’s Kenna Sandoval was a Class 3A first-team all-state, while teammate Shanna Buford was a second-team selection. Both were honored on the 3A Southeast all-district team.
Holy Trinity’s Emily Ross was an honorable-mention all-state selection in Class 1A. She was named to the 1A Southeast all-district team.
Sandoval ranked eighth in the state and third in Class 3A with a .588 batting average, seven home runs and 44 runs batted in.
Buford hit .518 with a team-leading eight home runs and 51 runs batted in. She was second in Class 3A and fifth overall with 20 doubles, and was fourth in 3A in RBI. She was tied for second in 3A with five triples..
Ross hit .519 with two home runs and 19 RBIs. She also had a team-leading 12 doubles.
