Nine area athletes named SEISC first-team

Central Lee puts eight players on first team; Ross picked at HTC.

LEE COUNTY - Five Central Lee softball players and three baseball players were SEI Superconference South Division first-team selections.
Shanna Buford was a co-player of the year in softball, along with West Burlington-Notre Dame’s Logan Kelley. Buford was joined on the first team by pitcher Jaylin Hawk, infielder Jaci Hawk, outfielder Carlee Pezley and infielder Kenna Sandoval.
Central Lee’s Jali Hawk and Aubree Bunnell were second-team choices. Kamryn Cox and Layla Gonterman were honorable mention selections.
Holy Trinity’s Emily Ross was a first-team selection. Teammates Sydney Jarvis and Elizabeth Griffin were picked to the second team. Morgan Krogmeier and Ellie Hellman were honorable-mention selections.
Central Lee catcher Bo Hendrich, infielder Blake Davis and outfielder Cory Jones were first-team selections for baseball. Kayden Calfee and Chase Johnson were second-team selections. Hunter Edlin and Zach Manwill were on the honorable mention list.
Notre Dame’s Caden Schwenker was the baseball player of the year.
