Linda Sue Szawiel, 66 of Keokuk died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison, IA.
She was born September 17, 1955 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of William Floyd and Dorothy Evelyn Myers Eaton.
Linda graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1974. She attended Southeastern Community College in Keokuk and Truman State University in Kirksville.
On April 8, 1978, Linda was united in marriage to Robert Szawiel in Keokuk. He survives.
Linda is also survived by two brothers, William Eaton (Ann) and Arthur Yoe both of Keokuk, two sisters, Judith Salyers of West Burlington and Doris Howard (Buddy) of Keokuk, one special sister, Susan Hayden (Michael) of Carthage, her mother-in-law, Betty Szawiel of Keokuk, one brother-in-law, Ed Szawiel (Karen) of Keokuk and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Mabel Myers, a sister in infancy, Nancy, and her step father, Claude Yoe.
Linda was a member of New Testament Christian Church and attended First Christian Church in Keokuk.
She worked at several daycares throughout her life. Linda was an antique collector and who had an eye for seeking out unusual pieces. She had a booth at the Heritage Antique Mall. She enjoyed sewing and had a love for dogs. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her nieces and nephews. Linda will be missed by those who loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
