Vigen Memorial Home obituary - David L. Halterman, 79, Keokuk

David “Dave” Lloyd Halterman, 79 of Keokuk passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.
He was born October 18, 1944 in Des Moines, IA the son of Leland and Mildred Stivers Halterman. 
Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 22, 1969, until his honorable discharge on August 28, 1970. During the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Korea.
Following his military service, Dave was employed as an over-the-road truck driver with Vermillion Trucking. For twenty-two years, he navigated the highways until his retirement in 2005. 
n his free time, Dave was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting deer, rabbit, and quail. He also enjoyed fishing, often spending hours by the water. Additionally, Dave was a skilled woodworker and crafted furniture and various small projects, for his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Annette Tomlinson (Robert) of Kansas City, KS and Lori Beyer (Pat) of Aurora, CO, one son Brian Halterman (Tabitha) of Keokuk.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jason Tomlinson (Alexia), Robert Tomlinson, Jr., Rachel Tomlinson, Stacey Tomlinson, Kimberly Beyer, Gavin Halterman and Kaitlyn Halterman and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Reverend Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating.   Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday with the family meeting with friends from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. 
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk National Cemetery or to the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
