Richard Ray Bell, Sr., 80, of Keokuk, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home in Keokuk.
Richard was born on April 9, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Geneva (South) Bell. On March 9, 1972, he was united in marriage to Sharon Frye in Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2021.
Richard was employed at Sheller-Globe and later Union Electric, where he retired. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and attended God’s Way Christian Center in Keokuk. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing and watching the food channel. His favorite activity was going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering on the Keokuk Chiefs. Richard proudly served his county in the United States Army.
Richard is survived by four daughters: Kimberly (Spencer) Jones of Keokuk, Andrea Tinder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Julie Tinder of Wichita, Kansas, and Heather (Mike) Davis of Keokuk; fourteen grandchildren: Kimber, Larry, Justin, Shannon, Rick, Logan, Braedon, Kaedyn, Ryan, Andre, Derrick, Michaela, Michenna, and Michael “MJ” Jr.; sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; and extended family.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon Bell, his son Richard “Ricky” Bell, and his sister JoAnn Brinkley.
Funeral services will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, 917 Blondeau Street. Burial with military honors will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 12 pm (Noon) directly before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in care of Heather Davis.
