Dixie Lee VanZile, 80, of Hamilton, passed away at 1:18 PM, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
Dixie was born April 21, 1944, the daughter of Henry L. and Jessie B.  (Boyd) Schneider in Keokuk, Iowa.  She attended Keokuk High School, graduating in 1962.  On April 5, 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard W. VanZile at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk.  He survives.  Dixie was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Richard, of Hamilton; three children, Roger (Donna) VanZile of Monticello, Iowa, Kristina (Gregg) Engel of Hamilton and Paula (Warren) Vickers of Warsaw; grandchildren, Heather (Adam) Washburn of Keokuk, Brian (Leslie Kay) VanZile of Keokuk, Todd (Michelle) VanZile of Keokuk and Trent (Melissa Cox) VanZile of Carthage ; step granddaughter,  Katie (Shannon) Smith of Kathleen, Georgia; siblings, George (Charlotte) Schneider of Montrose, Jack Schneider of Cambridge, MD, Janet (Larry) Hoppe of Hamilton, and Steve (Cindy) Schneider of Montrose; sisters and brothers in law, Nancy Gregory of Keokuk, Gordon VanZile of Warsaw and Dixie Schneider of Canton, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice Miller, Gloria Ruffcorn, Lana Lee and Karen Nichol; one brother, Arthur “A.J.” Schneider; three brothers-in-law. Jim Miller, Ken Ruffcorn and Kent Lee; and a sister-in-law, Diane Schneider.
Graveside services will be held at the Keokuk National Cemetery at 11:00 AM Monday, June 17, 2024.  Family and friends are invited to meet at Printy Funeral in Hamilton at 10:30 AM Monday morning to travel in procession to the cemetery for the service at 11:00.  A luncheon will follow at the Hamilton Community Center on Keokuk Street in Hamilton.  Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Association.  Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
