Pen City Current obituary – Lowell Frederick MacLearn, 96, formerly of Ottumwa

Lowell Frederick MacLearn passed away June 30, 2022 at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 96.

He was born September 7,1925, in Montrose, Iowa. He married Alberta Jean Walker in Ottumwa, IA on June 30, 1946. They had two sons, Stephen and Wayne.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and returned to Ottumwa. He was a salesman and manager at Iowa Supply and in 1972 moved to Lake Havasu City. He and his partner opened L&B Plumbing. He was active in the Elks Club, the Eagles and the American Legion for over 50 years. He loved boating, rock hunting, reading especially Westerns and his favorite playing cribbage and pinnacle, which he did until a week before he died.

He is survived by his son Wayne (Carolyn), Fort Madison; his brother, Charles of Waverly; sisters Elaine MacLearn of Glendale, AZ and Connie Wright of Camp Verde, AZ; grandchildren Kerri MacLearn and Stephanie (Kirk) Borg all of Arizona; Ian (Amy) MacLearn of Fort Madison; Shannon (Jason) Wagoner of Burlington and Rory (Sarah) MacLearn of Cedar Falls. Great grandchildren Kyle Wehrle of Silver Springs, MD, Zoe Wehrle of the US Navy in Jacksonville, FL; Lexy(Brandon Reu) Bergthold of Donnellson, IA, Calem and Liam MacLearn and Alyssa Fincher of Fort Madison; Lexi, Avery and Addison Borg of Arizona; Nolan, Kellen and Landon of Cedar Falls, IA. One great great grandson Bowen Reu.

Lowell was proceeded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents Frederick and Eunice MacLearn; son, Stephen; and grandson, Shawn MacLearn.

A military service will be conducted at 10:00am on July 29,2022 at the National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
