Kathy J. Smith, 71, of Wever, Iowa, died Sunday, May 26, 2024, at her home.
Born on November 15, 1952, in Anamosa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Neil and Rosemary (Hayden) Edwards.
Kathy was a 1970 graduate of Danville High School. She was a member of Long Creek Methodist Church. For twenty-six years she worked for Danville Community School District as a teachers associate. Kathy loved being outside working in her beautiful gardens and basking in the sunshine. She was highly loved by her sweet dog, Lizzie. Wherever Kathy went, Lizzie was sure to follow being her shadow.
She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Smith (fiancé Anthony Angelo) of Lafayette, Colorado; siblings: Stanley Edwards of St. Paul, Minnesota, Rosanne Skiver of New London, Iowa and Gary Edwards of New Virginia, Iowa. Also surviving is her best friend and companion of twenty-seven years Richard Merschbrock of Wever, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
