David Guzman, 77, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
He was born on October 6, 1946 in Ft. Madison to Jesse and Eleanor Ruis Guzman.   David was a 1964 graduate of Ft. Madison High School.  He enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War and was medically discharged in 1967.  David received the National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Defense Medal and a Purple Heart.  David met his soulmate, Barbara Campbell at the Ft. Madison Junior High School and they later married on July 11, 1980 in Ft. Madison. David retired from Chevron Chemical and the University of Iowa as maintenance supervisor.  He then was the bartender at the family owned El Zarape Supper Club.  David was a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and the little league coach of his son’s baseball team, the FM S &L White Sox.  He spent many years at the ballpark, coaching and watching his boys play.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Guzman of Ft. Madison; four sons, David Guzman, Jr. of Burlington, Todd (Tracee) Guzman of Ft. Madison, Cory Guzman of Rye, CO and Edward Guzman of Muscatine; his grandchildren, Kory (Matt) Kensett, David (Marissa) Guzman III, Nicholas (Rachel) Guzman, Haley (Levi) McCurdy, Nolan Guzman, Isiah Guzman, Elias Guzman and Christopher Guzman; his great grandchildren, Skarlett, Parker & Korra Kensett, Naomi Guzman and David Guzman IV on the way; two brothers, Thomas Guzman of Celina, TX and Mark (Patty Finch) Guzman of Carthage, IL; his “daughters” Jeanette Guzman and Teresa (JB) Young; two sisters in law, Bonnie Bowen and Diana (Larry) Peck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson and two brothers in law.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  There will be no services at this time.
