Sandra Mae “Sandy” Smith, 64, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 1:53 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison. She was born on June 27, 1959 in Fort Madison, IA to Lloyd & Adria Brown Redden. She married Cary M. Smith on May 28, 2005 in Shimek Forest in rural Farmington, IA. She was a custodian for the Fort Madison Community School District for more than 20 years. She enjoyed anything that involved her kids and grandkids and taking care of her husband.
Sandy is survived by: her husband: Cary Smith of Fort Madison, IA; 2-sons: Josh (Bethany) Cole of Solon, IA & Justin Cole of Mt. Union, IA; 6-grandchildren: Anna Jauron, Averi Cole, Emma Jauron, Raeleigh Cole, Raegan Cole & Gracie Cole; 1-step daughter: Brenda (Kevin) Miller of Kalona, IA; 4-step grandchildren; 3-sisters: Sharon Redden of Fort Madison, IA, Sheila Brecount of Farmington, IA & Shari (Ron) Heckenberg of Ruskin, FL; her mother in law: Betty Smith of Keokuk, IA; 1-nephew: Kurtis Redden of Burlington, IA and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Carri Fountain officiating. A memorial has been established for P.A. W. Animal Shelter.
