Harold J. Bonar, 88, of Wever, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:28 PM at The Kensington.

He was born on July 10, 1934 in Ft. Madison to Cecil and Inez Henderson Bonar.  On November 29, 1953 he married Betty “Nadine” Bradford in Ft. Madison.  Harold served in the US Marine Corp for three years and after that he started his lifelong farming.  He was a member of the Holtz Geer American Legion #668, the Lee County Sherriff Auxiliary and the Moose where he achieved Pilgrim status.  Harold was also a member of the Wever Fire Department where he served as Chief for thirteen years.  He also served as Chairman of the Green Bay Drainage District.  Harold and Nadine loved traveling and went to several states and also Europe.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Bonar of Wever, One Daughter, Bonnie (Steve) Wellman of Guntersville, AL; two sons, Scott (Lisa) Bonar of Ft. Madison and Brian (Kelly Stevenson-Brown) Bonar of Wever; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Pumphrey and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rick Bonar, a grandson, Derek Bonar; three sisters, Nora Pitts, Wanda Riddle and Lucille Sweeny and a brother, Robert Bonar.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jeff Metcalf officiating.  Burial will follow in Claypoole Cemetery.
