DONNELLSON – According to state and local officials, residents at the Aspire of Donnellson senior care center were transferred out of the facility late Tuesday evening.
A spokesperson at the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing said state officials were on hand Tuesday night overseeing the transfer of patients at about 8:30 p.m.
Calls to Ashleigh Hackel, general counsel for DIAL went unreturned Wednesday, but Donnellson Police Chief Brad Roberts confirmed the closure and transfer of patients, but directed all questions to the DIAL officials.
Roberts said he offered assistance in moving residents at the facility, however state officials said the assistance wasn’t necessary.
An answering machine at the facility located at 901 State Street in Donnellson directed messages to Talisa Jacobs as the on-site administrator, however messages weren’t returned.
It is unknown at this point if the facility has been closed or just vacated.
Pen City Current will update this story as calls are returned and information becomes available.
