Paul Vincent Woodruff, 97, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Paul was born on September 20, 1926, in Keokuk, the son of Leonard and Anna (Veith) Woodruff. He attended St. Peter High School in Keokuk and on November 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Willabelle Lane. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2019.
Paul worked several jobs in the Keokuk area, retiring from Orba-Johnson in 1988. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific and aboard the USS Cabot. Paul loved traveling throughout the United States with his wife and camping with his family, visiting all 48 lower states. He especially enjoyed his trips to Texas, Arizona and Branson.
Paul is survived by three daughters: Susan M. (Bob) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brenda L. (Mike) Beaird of Keokuk, and Barbara A. Ludwig of Marion, Iowa; six grandchildren: Wes (Josha) Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeremy (Cindy) Beaird, Heather Campbell, Lindsey Ludwig and Logan (Ashlin) Ludwig; eight great-grandchildren: Juliet and Cooper Johnson, Emma and Collin Campbell, Jack and JD Beaird, and Brayden and Emersyn Ludwig; his brother Bob Woodruff of Keokuk and one niece.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Willabelle and his brother Leonard, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post #41.
