Linda Mae Ferguson, 79, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at her home in Hamilton.
She was born on July 15, 1944, La Harpe, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Ferguson, Jr and Ruby Woods. In 1962, she married Robert Dawdy and had four children, Ginny, Mark, Matthew and Aaron. She attended Galesburg Senior High School in Galesburg, Illinois, and completed over 40 hours from Carl Sandburg Community College, BlackHawk Community College, and Lincoln Land Community College.
Survivors include her two brothers: Everett Ferguson of Davenport, Iowa and Charles Allen of Galesburg, Illinois, four children: Ginny Dawdy of Shannon, Illinois, Mark & Deanne Dawdy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Matt & Kim Dawdy of Eagle Mountain, Utah and Aaron & Alisha Dawdy of Eagle Mountain, Utah; Nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter, Ruby, and stepfather, Boyd Curtis, sister, Judy McGriff and brother, Steve Ferguson.
Linda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois and volunteered at the temple. Over the years, she worked as a store clerk, convenience store manager, a project manager, a front office agent at Yellowstone National Park, and a burglar alarm company agent. Linda volunteered as a Cub Scout Master, a Girl Scout leader and was recognized as a National Volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America. She lived for her family and the celebration of life and the holidays with them were treasured memories.
Her homemade rolls were always a hit at family gatherings, church functions, and among anyone she shared them with. She served others with a passion and loved to travel, always making friends along the way.
The family will receive family and friends for the viewing at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Schmitz - Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo, Illinois. Mark, Matthew and Aaron Dawdy will be officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
