Thomas paces Hawks at Central Lee Invite

Hawks scored 93 points to finish fourth overall in Donnellson

DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks’ Leo Thomas led the way at the Hawks' Invitational Cross Country event Tuesday night at Green Acres Golf Course in Donnellson.
Thomas set the pace for the Hawks' fourth-place team finish with a 13th place in the 5K at 20:40.33. Austin Fogarty and Ayden Kent were also in the top 20. Fogarty’s 21:08.60 was good enough for 15th overall, while Kent’s 22:05.73 was 19th fastest on the day.
Other scoring runners for Central Lee’s boys were Kaidin Humes who finished in 21st at 22:39.71 and Zach Manwill at 22:59.54. The Hawks finished with 93 points.
Other finishes for the Hawks were Caden Crozier at 24:49.02 and Beau Boyd at 25:53.99.
Winfield Mt. Union won the boys' meet with 49 points followed right behind by Van Buren County with 50.  Louisa-Muscatine was third with 62 points.
Three Lady Hawks ran in the varsity girls' run with Gabby Maynes having the fastest time for Central Lee at 29:05.02, good enough for 23rd overall. Sapphire Cummings finished at 35:51.30 for 29th place and Sydnie Larson finished at 37:07.55 for 30th place.
The girls didn’t place as a team due to not having five girls run.
