Ruble homers twice in win over Davis County

Fort Madison wins third straight behind Snaadt's two hitter.

BLOOMFIELD – Fort Madison’s Elle Ruble connected on two home runs as the Lady Hounds’ downed Davis County 9-2 for their third straight win and fourth of their last five.
Ruble’s homer came in the third inning on a 2-0 pitch that she sent over the centerfield fence with Alivia Holmes on base to make it a 3-0 game. Taylor Johnson would follow with a double to center and was brought around to score on Elizabeth Tanner’s single to left. Reiburn Turnbull would bloop an RBI single to right scoring Tanner before the Mustangs could get out of the inning.
Emma Snaadt set Davis County down in order in the bottom of the third and then Ruble homered again in the fourth inning this time on a 0-2 count that plated Holmes, who reached on an error.
Fort Madison would add two runs in the top of the sixth up 7-0 when Brylie Lorence hit her fourth homer of the year on a line drive to center scoring Ruble.
Davis County would score two in the bottom of the sixth on a two run homer, but the game was called due to weather with one out and no one on.
Ruble led the Lady Hounds at the plate going 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. Lauryn Helmick, and Elizabeth Tanner both had two-hit games.  Tanner scored two runs and chipped in with an RBI.
Snaadt went the distance going 5 1/3 allowing two runs, both earned on four hits while walking two and striking out none.
Fort Madison is now third in the Southeast Conference at 6-6 behind Washington (10-3) and Burlington (12-1) and stand at 10-16 overall.  They host Danville (3-18) at Baxter Sports Complex Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest and then host Mt. Pleasant on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Ruble now has five home runs on the year and his hitting .488 with an .838 slugging percentage, both team highs. The senior has 21 RBI followed by Lorence with 20. Ruble also has a team-high 17 extra base hits.
