Thacher and Pennock take titles at Lepic Invite

Smith and Riddle finish in second at Iowa City West

Logan Pennock captured the title at 126 despite losing a match by fall. Pennock opened with a win over Caden Ervin of Pleasant Valley.

The junior then fell in the second period to Ryan Muller of Ankeny Centennial, but won his next three matches with a 2:39 pin of Jake McKenzie of Norwalk to take the title.

Muller lost two of his other matches on the day to finish 5th overall.

Ike Thacher swept through the bracket at 195 lbs recording four pins at the event. Thacher recorded all his pins in the first period. The junior improved to 26-3 on the year.

At 182 lbs Landon Rudd just missed winning the title after going 3-1 on the day with three pins. Rudd fell to Ankeny Centennial's Zach English in a pin in the 3rd period to settle for runner-up.

Teague Smith earned a 8-5 win over Kyler Scranton of Iowa City West before falling to Pleasant Valley's Caden McDermott. He then scored a 5-2 decision over Caden Mendoza of Norwalk to take 2nd place at 170 lbs.

Nolan Riddle went 2-1 in the 145 lb bracket to take second place. Riddle won his first four matches before falling to Lucas Bruhl of Ankeny-Centennial by fall at 2:54 to take runner-up.

Riddle scored a major decision in the first round and fall in the second before getting two byes in rounds 3 and 4

At 152 Aidan Pennock lost a tight 5-4 decision to Dominic Tigner of Norwalk in the first round and then went on to split his next two matches to take 3rd place in that weight class.

Cory Arnett went 1-2 on the day to get to 3rd place at 285 lbs. Arnett got a pin in the final round of the day over Iowa City West's Randale Kelly.

Sophomore Tatum Schelich took 4th place at 113 lbs going 0-3 on the day with two byes..

Calvin Johnson wrestled in all five of his matches but didn't come away with a win finishing 0-5 and earning 5th place overall at 138 lbs.

Emmett Kruse took 5th place in the 160 lb weight class losing four of five matches on the day with a bye.

Noah Swigart went 0-3 with two byes at 120 lbs earning 5th place. At 132 Hayden Woolever went 0-3 and earned 4th place with two byes.

Hayden Segoviano took 5th at 220 lbs for the Hounds.
