Short-handed Hounds take 2nd at Wentzville

Riddle, Wiseman, Smith, and Thacher all claim titles in Missouri.

WENTZVILLE, Mo. - Four Bloodhounds claimed titles at the Liberty Wentzville Invitational, an annual trek for the Hounds before the holidays.

Fort Madison went short-handed with just nine wrestlers, but came away with second place with 208 points.

Nolan Riddle (144), Henry Wiseman (150), Teague Smith (182) and Ike Thacher (215) all brought home gold medals from the event.

Emmett Kruse (157) and Daniel Sokolik (285) finished as runners-up and Logan Pennock (126) and Landon Rudd (190) took 3rd to help the Bloodhounds to 2nd place.

The Hounds took just nine wrestlers to finish runner-up in the 19-team field.

Riddle scored  a pin at 3:02 over Ladue Horton's Sam Loiterstein. Riddle had a bye, a medical forfeit, a pin and then a tech fall in the semifinals to get to the title match.

Wiseman wrestled three full 3-period matches to get decisions in round 1, round 4 and the title match. He also scored a pin in round 5. The junior won his 4th round match by a 2-1 score with Kaden Barnes of Fulton scoring an escape with :03 left.

Teague Smith scored three straight falls at 175 and then won by medical forfeit in the semifinals before recording a tough 3-1 decision over Hayden DeVilder of Francis Howell Central 3-1. Smith got a take down early and earned a penalty point in the third period for the win.

Ike Thacher rolled through the 215 lb bracket with five pins, four of which came in the first period. He scored a pin in the third period to capture the title over Richard Meyer of Holt

Kruse lost a 7-3 decision in the title match to Kyden Wilkerson of Centralia for 2nd place, and Sokolik was pinned at 2:32 in the title match for his second place finish.
