FORT MADISON - A Fort Madison father/son team ran away with the first place finish in the second of three Lake  Cooper Angling Association “Open”  tournaments, with Mitch and Scott Seager bringing to the scales a bagged  limit of five bass weighing 19.79 pounds.  With a brisk 50-degree morning, all but one team of the 42 anglers caught  their limit of five largemouth bass  going to the scales.
Second place was secured using a variety of baits by the husband/wife team of Kelly and Mary Jo Clark of Fort Madison.  The Clark team brought 16.37 lbs to the scales including the second large bass of 5.84 lbs.  Chatterbaits, wacky worms and spinnerbaits provided for much of their time on the water.   Third place belonged to the team of Anthony Barnes and Chad Saltzgaver bagging a total five for 15.05 lbs. This team, as well as mostly all the competitors, caught numbers of bass that kept them busy all day as they sort through the smaller fish while noting which baits were more appealing to their larger fish.  Fourth place  team of Jared and Justin Flockhart –12.6 lbs.   5th place and Big Bass went to anglers Joe Bohnenhart and Tim Miller with a five fish limit of 12.32 lbs and the tournaments largest bass at 6.18 lbs.
The Lake Cooper Angling Association will sponsor the third and final “Open” tournament on August 24 at Fort Madison’s new marina.
