Buddy Keith Thurman, 88, of Warsaw, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home.
Buddy was born on February 28, 1936, in Avon, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Viva (Wheeler) Thurman. He graduated from Warsaw High School and on May 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carrol Lee Richardson in La Belle, Missouri. She survives.
Buddy was a member of Warsaw Methodist Church and was employed at Hubingers/Roquette for many years, retiring in 1996. He was always active in the Warsaw community, serving in the city alderman position, the Masonic Lodge for sixty years, the Warsaw and Kahoka Lions Clubs, the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Department, the Oakland Cemetery Board, and on many other boards and positions. He was also a member of Local 48G and a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Buddy’s passions were hunting and fishing whenever and wherever he could, from elk hunting in Colorado to fishing in Canada and Louisiana, the latter with his dear friends the Shinns. His deer camp is a fond family memory as well as his woodworking and scroll saw art. He loved the Mississippi River and could often be found driving his ATV down to his riverfront cabin. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love that he had for his family and his community.
Buddy is survived by his wife Carrol Thurman of Warsaw; his son Robert “Duckie” (Tonya) Thurman of Warsaw; his daughter Audrey (Ron) Meade of Niota, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Alyssa Thurman-Nagel of University City, Missouri, Sarah (Duston) Ridinger of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Craig (Shannon) Meade of Oregon City, Oregon, Alayna (Matt) Climer of Warsaw, Lacey (Amanda) Thurman-Degnan of Keesler Air Force Base, Lindsey (Tyler) Crenshaw of Warsaw and Lexis (Tommy) Hoener of Warsaw; fifteen great-grandchildren: Layla Nagel; Miranda and Elijah Ridinger; Jack and Roman Meade; Easton, Emerson and Emerlee Crenshaw; Callum, Bennett and new baby Malcolm Hoener; Cash, Delilah, Sloane and Saige Thurman-Degnan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents; his son and daughter-in-law Alan and Debbie Thurman; three brothers: Truman, Gene and John Thurman; and two sisters: Pauline Ring and Arlene Loeffler.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.
