Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Bruce Bawden, 72, Keokuk

Bruce Bawden, 72 of Keokuk, IA passed Saturday, October 12, 2024 at his home.
     He was born June 20, 1952 in Keokuk, IA the son of Jack and Patreina “Pattie” Ann Walters Bawden.  He graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1970.  He furthered his education at Quincy University in Quincy, IL and received his bachelor’s degree in computer science.
     Bruce was a veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country, earning the title of Staff Sargent. 
     On December 6, 1971 Bruce was united in marriage to Mona Mortimer.  They later divorced.
     Bruce had been employed by Titan Wheel in Quincy, IL until his retirement in 2013.
     Bruce enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing.  He was devoted to his dogs, frequently taking them to the river where they could run and enjoy the outdoors together.   Bruce loved to study current affairs and never shied away from a good political debate.
     He is survived by one daughter, Patreina “Ann” Jacobs (Jay) of Hammond, IL, one son, Christopher Bawden of Fenton, MO, six grandchildren, Samantha Santiago (Justin), Gabriel Jacobs, Kaitlyn Jacobs, Hayley Bawden, Amber Bawden and Kristen Bawden and one great-grandchild, Payslee.  He is also survived by two sisters, Sue Ellen Balluff of Keokuk and Linda Kennedy (Jack) of Donnellson, IA and three brothers, Kyle Bawden (Barbara) of Hamilton, IL, Kent Bawden (Lori) of Keokuk and Keith Bawden (Ronda) of Keokuk.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, one son in infancy, Stephen Bawden and one brother, Stephen Bawden.
     A gathering of remembrance will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct 17 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends at that time.  A private family burial with military rites will be held in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
