Nikes clamp down on Fort Madison boys

Hounds fall to 5-10 with the loss

BURLINGTON – Leif Boeding led Fort Madison with 14 points and Hunter Cresswell had 11 as the Bloodhounds lost 63-48 to Burlington Notre Dame on Saturday in Burlington.

Fort Madison got down early by six, but closed the gap to tie things at 10 going into the second period.

The Nikes raced to a 20-point second quarter performance to open up a 31-21 lead at halftime. A couple of three pointers cut the lead to 7 half way through the third quarter as Fort Madison went on a small 7-4 run, but Notre Dame countered with their own run as the quarter came to end and extended the lead to 12 at 44-32.

The Bloodhounds couldn’t put together a rally and got down by as much as 19 with five minutes left in the game.

Liam Delaney led Notre Dame with 17 point on the night, while Carson Jones had 14 and Hunter Lillie had 10.

Carson Rashid had eight points for Fort Madison, all in the first half while the Nikes clamped down on Hounds’ top scorer, from the perimeter and off the dribble in the second half.

The Bloodhounds are now 5-10 on the year, and take on Washington (5-3, 7-7) on Tuesday in Southeast Conference matchup. Fort Madison is 1-7 in loop play.
