Lineup for tonight's Class 3A State Wrestling

Smith, Thacher and Logan Pennock get 1st round byes

DES MOINES – Fort Madison wrestling at the IHSAA State Tournament kicks off at 6 p.m. tonight at Wells-Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

All Class 3A wrestling action takes place at 6 p.m. Wed-Fri with a full day on Saturday for the finals and semifinal action.

Here’s the lineup for your Bloodhounds:

At 220 lbs – Senior Daniel Sokolik  (18-9) is seeded 13th and will tangle with Muscatine’s Kam Evans (19-9 Sr.) in 1st round action starting at 6 p.m.

At 195 lbs – Junior Ike Thacher (39-7) is seeded No. 6 and received a 1st round bye. He will begin wrestling in second round action Wednesday night against the winner of 11-seed Johan Gomez, a sophomore from Marshalltown (33-7) and 22nd-seed Carson Slorah, an Indianola sophomore (22-24).

At 170 lbs – Junior Teague Smith (34-3) is also seeded 6th and will get a 1st round bye. He will wrestle in second round action Wednesday against the winner of 11th-seed Kaia Fox (29-8 Sr.) and Benjamin Haughey of Clear Creek-Amana (25-25 So.)

At 152 lbs – Senior Aidan Pennock is seeded 19th (33-12) will take on 14th-seed Hunter Bagby of Urbandale (17-11).

At 145 lbs – Junior Nolan Riddle (38-10) is seeded 11th and will take on 22nd seed Zach Fern of Iowa City High (21-15 Sr.) in first round action.

At 126 lbs – Sophomore Logan Pennock is seeded (39-11) 8th and received a first-round bye. Pennock will wrestle Wednesday 2nd round against the winner of No. 9 seed Jashua Anglo of Johnston (34-8 So.) and No. 24 Derrick Gregory of Lewis Central  (24-21 So.)

At 120 lbs. Sophomore Noah Swigart (15-23) is seeded 24th and will tangle with No. 9 Max Bishop of Fort Dodge (28-11 Sr.) in 1st round action.
