Lady Hounds keep racing past SE Iowa teams

Boys 3rd at Centerville Invitational Tuesday in Moravia

MORAVIA – The Fort Madison girls took first place at the Centerville Invitational Tuesday night as the Lady Hounds continue to dominate southeast Iowa runs this fall.
Fort Madison had five of the top 12 runners for 37 points to lead the field by more than 30 points. Pella Christian was second with a 69.
Junior Avery Rump got under the 20-minute mark again with a 19:40.8 good enough for 3rd place overall. Albia’s McKenna Montgomery won the event with an 18:23.60.
Oskaloosa’s Tierney Carter finished 4th and then Fort Madison’s Ellie Hellman and Jordyn Marshall came in 5th and 6th about five seconds apart. Hellman ran a 20:06.20 and Marshall came across at 20:10.90. Addison Rump finished 11th overall with a 20:24.90 and McKayla Schinstock came in 12th also about five seconds back with a 20:29.10. Ellie Huebner ran a 22:46.80 (56th).
The Keokuk girls ran to a 5th-place finish with 145 points. They were led by Hannah Karre’s 10th-place finish at 20:23.00.
Fort Madison boys turned in a 3rd-place finish with 83 points behind Pella Christian’s 73 and Chariton’s 37. Chariton had four of the top eight runners.
The Hounds’ Riley Tripp 16:55.70 led the way in 7th place overall. Jacob Shottenkirk was back near the top of the pack with a 9th-place finish at 17:14.40. Peyton Lambert ran a 17:22.70 (11th), Hunter Wiegand 17:36.80 (19th), and Calvin Johnson 18:26.60 (37th), to round out the Hounds’ scoring runners.
Jacob Walker ran a 18:26.60 (38th), and Mason McLey crossed at 18:30.40 (39th).
Keokuk boys finished 12th as a team with 351 points.
