Lady Hounds handle another conference five-setter

Johnson leads Fort Madison with 16 kills in win

KEOKUK – Fort Madison survived another five-set affair Tuesday night knocking off county-rival Keokuk in Southeast Conference girls volleyball action.
The Lady Hounds dropped the first and third sets 14-25 and 17-25, but won the second set 25-16 and the fourth 25-14 to force the tiebreaker. That last set went extra points as well, with Fort Madison coming out on top 17-15 to move to 3-10 on the season.
Taylor Johnson led Fort Madison at the net with 16 kills. Aija Jenkins and Lauryn Helmick both added 9. Helmick also contributed 11 digs and five aces. 
Mara Smith had 43 assists working the court for the Hounds. Mazie Hotop had a perfect night serving with three aces.
The Hounds travel to West Liberty this weekend for a Saturday tournament.
