BURLINGTON – The Lady Hounds tennis teams managed to get two wins in singles action in 8-2 loss to the Grayhounds Monday at Dankwardt Park in Burlington.
Molly Knipe got her second win in a row after battling through two tough tiebreaker matches in her first two outings this season.
Knipe is 2-1 on the year and took out Burlington’s Emily Mosley 8-4 at No. 1 singles Monday.
The Grayhounds won the next two singles matches at Nos. 2 and 3. Brianna Wright lost to Macy McGinity 1-8 at No. 2 and Lauren Otte lost to BHS’s Anna Buxton by the same 1-8 score.
Naudia Ruston won for the Lady Hounds at No. 4 singles taking out Burlington’s Madison Taeger for Fort Madison’s only other win.
Makenna Pixler and Madelyn Gobble both lost at Nos. 5 and 6.
Knipe and Otte lost at No. 1 doubles to Mosley and McGinity 4-8. Wright and Ruston lost to Buxton and Taeger 5-8, while Pixler and Gobble lost 1-8 at No. 3 doubles.
The girls host Mt. Pleasant at 4:30 on Thursday while the Hound boys travel to Mt. Pleasant looking for their first win of the year.
