Lady Hounds 5th at Silver Streak

Rump finishes in the top two for third time this season

MONMOUTH - The Fort Madison girls cross country team took fifth place at the Silver Streak Invitational in Monmouth behind the second place effort of freshman Avery Rump.

The freshman finished sub 20 at 19:11.4 to lead the Lady Hounds. It's Rumps third top-two finish in the first three races of the season.

Paetyn Wiegand was second for the Hounds with a 21:00.4 finish good enough for 26th place. The other three scoring runners for Fort Madison were Addison Rump at 21:01.3 (28th overall), and Ellie Huebner 22:43.9 (52nd).

Alison Lamb (62nd), Hadley Wolfe (71st), Jordyn Burch (72nd), Alexa Walz (73rd) also competed for Fort Madison.

The Fort Madison boys finished in 7th place.

Mason McLey led the way with a 37th-place finish at 18:21.6 followed by Riley Trip at 18:22.5 (39th overall).

Peyton Lambert was 41st overall with an 18:32.2. Nolan Guzman (48th) and Jacob Shottenkirk (52nd) were the other scoring harriers for the Hounds.

John Contrell 19:13.1 (60th overall), Cameron Shutwell 19:45.7 (68th overall), Ben Thele 20:44.3 (89th overall), Jackson Haessig 21:27.9 (96th overall) and Jake Haessig 21:56 (104th overall) also competed for Fort Madison
