Daniel Mendez, age 60, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at his home.
Dan had made Hope Haven’s Brueck House his home since 1987. Dan lived, worked, learned, and made great friends with his roommates and wonderful staff over the years at Hope Haven.
Dan’s favorite past times were puzzles, games and socializing with friends. Dan loved the outdoors. He liked to get Dairy Queen and go to the park where he loved the slide and the swings. Dan also enjoyed relaxing in his rocking chair on the patio, watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders in his backyard. Dan also loved listening to Mexican music. Dan will be remembered for his little smile and big hugs.
Dan’s family include his cherished mother, Frances Mendez of Ft. Madison, IA; siblings, Ruben (Andrea) Mendez, Jr., of Fort Madison, IA and Trish (Bill) Rodriguez or Arlington, WA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and numerous friends at Hope Haven’s Brueck House. Sadly, Dan is preceded in death by his father, Ruben; and grandparents.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted and the family will meet with friends from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
