Hounds win Hawk Relays

DONNELLSON – The Fort Madison boys' track team took first place at the Central Lee Hawk Relays Monday night. The hosts captured 3^rd place at the event.

Central Lee’s Tommy Eschman took first place by a hair in the 100-meter dash, crossing just .01 seconds ahead of Seymour’s Dylan Brennecke and .05 seconds in front of the Bloodhounds’ Julian Dear.

Eschman took second in the 200 and the Hawks’ Grant Myhre took 3^rd in the 200 at 23.76 and 23.92, respectively. Fort Madison’s Nik Fullenkamp and Hayden Segoviano were 3^rd and 4^th.

Myhre took 1^st in the 400 at 54.43 with FM’s Peyton Lambert 2^nd at 54.91.

Other top finishes for the Hounds were Nolan Guzman winning the 800 open at 2:10.38, Mason McLey in the 1600-meter run at 5:12.42, and Henry Wiseman in the 110 hurdles with a mark of 16.32.

The Hounds' 4x100 relay of Adam Sobczak, Dayton Lamar, Tate Settles, and Dear, who are closing in on a Drake qualifying time, ran a 44.10, a full two seconds ahead of the field.

Settles, Kiawante Smith, Fullenkamp, and Lamar took first in the 4x200 with a 1:36.11.

Fort Madison’s Shuttle hurdle relay team of Wiseman, Smith, Sobczak, and Gavin Callahan took first with a mark of 1:03.87.

In the field events, Eschman won the long jump with a leap of 22.75. Corbin Pohren took 3^rd for the Hawks with a 20-1 jump.

Fort Madison’s Lamar was second in the high jump at 5-10. Nolan Guzman was 3^rd at 5-8.

Caden Barnes won the shot for the Hounds with a throw of 43-11. Ike Thacher continues to improve on the year with a throw of 40-3.5. Ostyn Moore and Brody Fuller took 3^rd and 4^th for the Hawks.

Brayton Schneider got his first 1^st-place of the year in the discus with a spin of 107-00. Cory Arnett was 3^rd with a throw of 101-7. Fuller was 4^th at 101-2.5.

In the girls' meet Gabby Maynes took 2^nd place in the open 400 with a 1:13.74. The Hawks' next best finish was Kamryn Cox’s 3^rd in the 400 hurdles at 1:19.48. Makayla Howard took 4^th in the 200 with a time of 30.25.
