Hounds win 3rd 5-setter this season

Fort Madison takes down West Hancock Monday night

FORT MADISON – No one can say Fort Madison’s volleyball action at the Hound Dome hasn’t been exciting this year.
Fort Madison has played three times on their home court with two of the three matches going five sets, and the only loss needing four sets to determine the winner.
On Monday night, the Lady Hounds entertained the home crowd again with a 25-16,12-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-5 win over West Hancock. Fort Madison is 3-0 in five set matches this year.
Elle Ruble led the Hounds in serving, going 20/20 with seven aces. She also racked up 42 digs. Sydney McEntee led in kills with 15. Taylor Johnson also added 13 kills. They both had 2 blocks.
Mara Smith had 47 assists. Mara also served 12/12 with an ace.
Mazie Hotop served 10/10 with two aces and Alexis Beebe served 9/9 with 1 ace.
Smith, a sophomore, is second in the Southeast Conference in assists with 361, trailing Fairfield’s Maddie Jones by just five on the season. Johnson is fifth in the loop in kills with 107 and Ruble is third in digs with 210.
The Hounds travel to Burlington tonight for a Southeast Conference matchup. They are currently tied with the Grayhounds, Keokuk, and Washington at 2-2 in conference play and stand at 4-19 overall. Fairfield leads the conference at 3-0, 10-9.
