WASHINGTON – The Fort Madison Bloodhounds won another tight game, but came out with another Southeast Conference boys soccer win Monday night.

The Hounds had been having trouble establishing offense early on, but came out with two goals in the first half before holding off Washington 2-1 in Washington.

Xander Wellman scored on a break away unassisted at the 17-minute mark and then Jacob Shottenkirk scored an unassisted goal with 30 seconds left in the first half.

Fort Madison’s defense would hold things in check until the Demons would get on the board with three-and-a-half minutes left in regulation.

Oliver Santiago had seven saves on the night.

The junior varsity also won 2-1. Xander Lumsden scored in the first half and James Denning scored in the second half off an assist from Jackson Haessig. Connor Gehling had three saves in that match.

The Bloodhounds improve to 4-0 (2-0) on the year and play host to Keokuk on Thursday evening.
