MT. PLEASANT - The Fort Madison boys tennis team continues to learn and improve, according to Head Coach Dean Hogan.

But the Hounds are still looking for their first win in a match this season as Mt. Pleasant handed the Bloodhounds a 9-0 loss Monday evening.

At No. 1 singles, Aidan Benda fell to the Panthers' Owen Van Sickle 6-0, 6-0.

Javean Davis took two games from Elliott Cook at No. 2 singles but fell 6-2, 6-0. Jed Bruster was shut out by Phoenix Watson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Mt. Pleasant's Tim Cam blanked George Hantzeas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Gavin Ross dropped James Janic 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

In doubles action, Benda and Davis fell 6-0, 6-2, while Bruster and Hantzeas lost 6-2, 6-0.

"We're getting improvement, but other than that, we got a young group that is trying to learn fundamentals," Hogan said.

"The efforts are sincere and that’s all we can hope for."

The Hounds take on Keokuk at home Monday.
