DES MOINES - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds had a tough Friday at the IGHSAU/IAHSAA State High School Track and Field Meet at Drake Stadium.
Henry Wiseman’s 15.69 was about .4 of a second short of qualifying him for the 110 hurdles final giving him a 14th place finish. Wiseman ran the final leg of the Bloodhounds’ shuttle hurdle relay team Thursday that was disheartened with an early start ruling that disqualified an otherwise qualifying time.
Kiawante Smith struggled in the second heat with a 20.02 in the 110 hurdles after catching a hurdle to finish 24th. Smith also ran on the shuttle hurdle team Thursday.
The Sprint Medley team of Hayden Segoviano, Julian Dear, Peyton Lambert, and Nolan Guzman recorded a 3:37.60 which was the 15th best boys time in 3A.
Brylie Lorence recorded a 36’1.5” throw as her best effort in the girls 3A shot put. That throw was good enough for 15th place overall.
The boys’ 4x100 relay team didn’t record a time in that event and were given a Did Not Finish after dropping the baton during the first exchange between Adam Sobczak and Dayton Lamar.
The meet wraps up today with Brandon Klein competing in the 100, 200, and 400 wheelchair and the wheel chair shot. Klein came out the district qualifier with a throw just over 18 feet.
Mara Smith will run in the open 800 and Avery Rump will compete in the girls 3000 for the Lady Hounds.
