FM girls 3rd, boys 6th at Fairfield X-country meet

Rump again takes tops honors in girls to lead Lady Hounds

FORT MADISON - Fort Madison's Avery Rump got out in front of the pack at the Fairfield Cross Country meet Thursday and captured first place in the girls 5K leading the Hounds to a third-place finish.
The freshman finished the course at 20:27.25 a full :30 ahead of Clear Creek-Amana's Haidyn Barker.
Paetyn Wiegand took 7th overall and was the second one in for the Lady Hounds with a 21:44.29. Addison Rump was 11th overall with a 22:27.33, while Ellie Huebner and Allison Lamb rounded out the scoring runners for the girls. Huebner finished 32nd and Lamb 33rd.
Hadley Wolfe (37th),  Alexa Walz (49th), Jordyn Burch (56th), Emma Berry (60th), Lillian Gelsthorpe (83rd), and Emma Kern (93rd) also competed for Fort Madison.
The Lady Hounds finished with 82 points, behind Washington (52) and winner Clear Creek-Amana (50).
In the boys run Mason McLey had the best finish for Fort Madison with a 19:11.28 good enough for 19th overall. And then as his getting pretty common for the Hounds boys, the next four scoring runners all came in together within 10 seconds of each other.
Riley Tripp finished at 19:53.94 (32nd) followed by Nolan Guzman's 20:01.41 (33rd), Jacob Shottenkirk 20:01.44 (34th), and Peyton Lambert 20:02.53 (35th). The Hounds finished with 153 points. Washington won the meet with 40 points.
