Eschman leads Central Lee at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD – The Fort Madison Bloodhounds got a first-place finish from Cole Packard in the 400-meter dash and Central Lee got a strong sprint performance from Tommy Eschman at Tuesday’s Trojan Relays in Fairfield.

Packard got his first individual gold of the season with a quick 53.14 in the 400-meter dash setting the pace for the Hounds.

Eschman took 2^nd in the 100-meter and 200 meter, as well as 2^nd in the long jump to lead the Hawks. Eschman’s 11.61 in the 100-meter tied Fort Madison’s Julian Dear for the second fastest time of the day. The Hounds’ Dayton Lamar was 4^th with a 11.70.

Eschman raced to a 24.02 in the 200-meter dash. The Hawks’ Grant Myhre was right behind at 24.26 good enough for third. Fort Madison’s Kiawante Smith was fifth at 25.05.

Fort Madison again did well in the sprint relays. The 4x100 team of Adam Sobczak, Lamar, Tate Settles and Dear was 2^nd at 44.71. The Hawks fielded Eschman, Myhre, Brayden Wyrick, and Keagan Damico and finished 5^th at 47.34.

In the 4x200, Fort Madison again finished second fielding Settles, Hayden Segoviano, Fullenkamp and Lamar for a 1:35.57, while the Sprint Medley team of Settles, Segoviano, Fullenkamp and Nolan Guzman took 4^th with a 1:43.84.

The Hounds shuttle hurdle relay team had another good day with Henry Wiseman, Smith, Sobczak, and Segoviano 1:06.80 for 2^nd place.

Lamar and Damico tied for 2^nd in the high jump with leaps of 5-10 each in the field events.

Fort Madison’s Ike Thacher finished 4^th in the shot put with a throw of 41-2.

Fort Madison took 5^th overall with 78 points, while Central Lee was 7^th as a team with 66 points.
