FORT MADISON - As students head back to school this week, local Elks Chapter #374 would like to wish its 2022 scholarship awardees a fantastic post-graduation year!  The four local high school seniors (Madison Meyer, Macy Watkins, Tate Johnson and Chyane Davidson) were honored earlier this summer at the  125th anniversary dinner celebration of the Fort Madison’s local Elks Chapter #374.

FMHS  senior, Madison Meyer, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the local chapter. Madison will  head off to Iowa Wesleyan University to pursue a career in library science. Throughout high school she was active in band—jazz, marching, and symphony. She also volunteered in In Via’s community projects.

Central Lee senior, Macy Watkins, was honored with a $1,000 Iowa Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Her extracurricular activities were highlighted by playing volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball.  She will attend Saint Ambrose this fall, majoring in data analysis.

Tate Johnson, FMHS senior, received a $1,000 Elks Legacy Scholarship.  Legacy awards are for children and grandchildren of Elks members; Tate’s parents Tara and Tony Johnson are long-time Elks members. Tate, throughout high school, was active in track, baseball, basketball, football, as well as coaching youth football. He will attend Coe College to pursue a degree in business management.

A $1,500 vocational scholarship was awarded to Chyane Davidson, senior at Central Lee High School. Chyane will attend Des Moines Area Community College in the fall majoring in agriculture with a goal of becoming a veterinary technician.
