FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhound boys tennis team again flirted with its first match win of the season Monday night in Burlington.
Jed Bruster and George Hantzeas took the Grayhounds' Jacob Widmer and Will Woodard into a first set tiebreak at 7-6, but lost the extra session 6-3 before falling in the second set 6-2.
In singles play, Burlington's Hunter Ford dropped the Bloodhounds' Aiden Benda at No. 1 6-0, 6-2.
Javean Davis fell to Carson Ziegler at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1 and BHS's Shay Stringer defeated Fort Madison's George Hantzeas 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
James Janick and Jed Bruster also fell in singles action.
Fort and Ziegler downed Benda and Davis 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
The Bloodhounds didn't field a No. 6 singles player or play at No. 3 doubles.
"There was improvement from our play at Fairfield and we're starting to gain a little confidence and understand the process a little more," said head coach Dean Hogan.
