Evelyn Rempe, 88 years, of Argyle, Iowa died at 10:01 am Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Fort Madison. She was born April 2, 1935, a daughter of Melburn F. and Ellen Evelyn (Hawkins) Young. On November 17, 1956, she married John Rempe. He survives.
Evelyn loved children and babysat for years. When she was a young woman, she worked at Sheaffer Pen. Evelyn enjoyed flowers, sending cards monthly to family and friends, and she also stayed busy volunteering at the Newberry Center. Her faith was most important to her, and she was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Madison. Evelyn loved her family, and was the best wife, mom, and grandmother ever.
She is survived by her husband, John Rempe of Fort Madison; two daughters, Brenda Boeding of West Point, Iowa and Tina (Kent) Penrod of Fort Madison; one daughter-in-law Janette Rempe of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister-in-law Barbara Billings of Donnellson, Iowa; one grandson Bradly Penrod; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Francis Stephenson, one son Randy Rempe, one son-in-law Jerry Boeding, one brother John Young, two nephews, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
A Time to Greet Friends will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 pm Friday, December 22, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2193 Old Denmark Road, Fort Madison, Iowa. A Remembrance Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be at a later date. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at or mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627.
