Avery wins Orange division at Prairie

Freshman harrier wins races to a 19:50.9 in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - Fort Madison freshman Avery Rump raced to a 19:50.9 mark at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational  Saturday.
Rump's mark was just 10.8 seconds off the pace of Cedar Falls Zoe Zylstra. Zylstra won the Black group for Cedar Falls.
Rump's twin sister Addison Rump almost broke the top 10 with a 21:38.6, while Paetyn Wiegand came in third for Fort Madison with 22:01.3. She finished 16th in the Orange Division and 36th overall.
The other top-5 runners for Fort Madison were Ellie Huebner finished 33rd in the Orange Division and 82nd overall with a time of 23:54.07 and Hadley Wolfe with a time of 24:13.07 who took 35th in the Orange Division and 86th overall.
Alexa Walz finished 43rd in Orange and 96th overall.  Jordyn Burch finished 101st overall with a time of 27:37.9
Fort Madison boys scored 145 points for a fifth-place finish in the Orange Division.
Freshman Riley Tripp finished at 19:08.7 to lead the Fort Madison boys. That time was good enough for 24th place in the Orange division.
Junior John Contrell was 28th in the Orange with a time of 19:37.6 good enough for 81st overall.
Then freshman Mason McLey and Nolan Guzman came in neck-and-neck 19:40.3 and 19.41.9 for 30th and 31st in Orange. Jacob Shottenkirk rounded out the scoring for the Bloodhounds with a 19:42.2 which was 32nd  in the Orange and 85th overall.
Peyton Lambert also ran for Fort Madison with a 20:05.6 and Cameron Shutwell raced to a 20:26.6 mark good enough for 96th overall.
Other runners for Fort Madison were Calvin Johnson at 21:01.6, Ben Thiele at 21:25.6 and Jackson Haessig at 22:32.2.
