Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Joseph A. Rose, 91, Keokuk

Joseph Anthony Rose, 91 of Keokuk, IA passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, MO.
He was born on November 23, 1932 in Keokuk, IA the son of Wesley and Evelyn Long Rose. 
On April 13, 1952 Joe was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Tiemann of Warsaw, IL in Hardy, AR.  She survives.
In 1960, despite only having an 8th grade education, Joe along with his brothers, Philip and Robert Rose started Rose Brothers Construction Company which later became Keokuk Contractors, Inc.
Joe loved nothing more than spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.  He was always there to love, support, encourage and teach them everything from fishing and driving to reading maps.  He was a kid at heart and was always full of jokes and smiles.  You could see him most every day riding his scooter, often with his brothers.
Joe is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth of Keokuk, two sons, James (Danelle “Danny”) Rose, Daniel (Debbie) Rose, three grandchildren, Jacy (Corey) Martin and Jamie (Tim) Bernhardt and Amanda Rose of North Liberty, IA, seven great-grandchildren, Dyrien Bolen, Connor and Madelyn Bernhardt, Maggie and Jaycie Martin all of Keokuk and Hayden and Madden Meek of North Liberty, IA and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert Rose of Keokuk and John (Carol) Rose of Keokuk, brothers-in-law, Bill (Sue) Tiemann of Kerrville, TX, Tom (Mary Jane) Tiemann of Lufkin, TX and Duane Cloud of Jacksonville, FL, sisters-in-law, Theresa (Buck) Cameron of Hamilton, IL, Virginia Rose of Keokuk, Viola Rose and Rosie Rose of California and countless nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Paul, Philip, Albert and Dave Rose and one sister, Ester “Toby” Glasgow, brothers-in-law, Bud and Dick Tiemann and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Betts, Shirley Glover Carrie Cloud, Dorcas “Duke” Rose and Beverly “Tootie” Rose.
No services will be held at this time.   A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
