LEE COUNTY - Two Van Buren County people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwys. 103 and 218.
According to Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber, the two were westbound on Hwy. 103 and were struck by a semi heading northbound on Hwy. 218.
Weber said emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 3 p.m. and were on scene until about 8:15 p.m.
The Iowa State Patrol is handling the investigation but a preliminary report of the accident is not yet available. Family members of the two victims have been notified.
The driver of the semi was uninjured.
Lee County Sheriff's office was assisted by West Point Fire & Rescue, Donnellson/West Point Police, and Lee County EMS Ambulance.
