Mary “Meri” Carol Jenkins, 65, of Carthage, Illinois, formerly of Nauvoo, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 2:15 a.m. at the Macomb Post Acute Care Center.
Born on December 23, 1958 in Brookfield, Missouri, the daughter of William Herbert “Bill” and Margaret Joan (Cleveland) Bevier. She married Kyle Jenkins, they later divorced.
Survivors include her two daughters: Adriene (Matt Hayes) Jenkins of Fort Madison, Iowa and Jandy (Jay) Mitchell of Burnside, Illinois; grandchildren: Madison, Alyssa Connor, Mera, Savanna, Ethan, Gavin, Alexander, Marissa, Annabelle, Noah and Kayden; sister Jena (Kurt) McManis of Bozeman, Montana; four brothers: Jerry (Connie) Bevier of Niota, Illinois, Kerry (Kathy Mosley) Bevier of Fort Madison, Iowa, Andy (Tammy) Bevier of Nauvoo, Illinois, and Joe (Lieann)Bevier of Bozeman, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Ryan Kanye Jenkins.
Mary was a 1977 graduate of Nauvoo - Colusa High School. She worked at Hotel Nauvoo, Colusa Elevator, and the Nauvoo Family Inn and Suites.
She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, writing poems, and listening to music, especially (The Red Rocker) Sammy Hagar.
Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home for cremation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
