Steven “Steve” Lee Rairden, 70, of Keokuk, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Steve was born on February 9, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Carroll and Faye (Symmonds) Rairden. He graduated from Keokuk High school in 1972, and on June 16, 1973, he was united in marriage to Lisa Howell Rairden in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.
Steve worked with his father at Rairden’s Auto Salvage for many years and eventually at Griffin Wheel up until his retirement. He also enjoyed his part time job at Hy-Vee. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Steve loved his granddaughters dearly and his world revolved around them. He was also a very avid St. Louis Cardinal and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Steve is survived by his wife Lisa of Keokuk; his mother Faye Rairden of Keokuk; his son Steve Rairden, Jr. of Keokuk; his daughter Melissa (Marc) Coleman of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two granddaughters: Kylee and Kelsey Coleman, both of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers: David (Melanie) Rairden of Williamsburg, Iowa, Daniel (Theresa) Rairden of Keokuk; and Paul (Denise) Rairden of Keokuk; two sisters: Rhonda (Ron) Nelson of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kathy (Charlie) Hayner of Keokuk; five sisters-in-law: Sandy (Bruce) Marmion of Hamilton, Illinois, Cindy Howell of Keokuk, Susan Howell of Keokuk, Robin (Rick) Kitzman of Donnellson, and Candy (Jim) Dupuy of Kokomo, Indiana; his brother-in-law Brian Howell of Keokuk; his aunt Alice Jean Hartweg of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and great friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his father Carroll Rairden, his mother and father-in-law Carolyn and Kenneth Howell, his brother-in-law Louie Howell, his nephew Jason Russell, and his niece Lindsay Dupuy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at New Testament Christian Church (The Church on Hilton Road), with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, from 2 to 7 pm, with family meeting friends from 4 to 7 pm at Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk.
Memorials may be directed to the family for nursing home resident gift basket items.
