Lady harriers take another title at Anamosa

No. 11 Fort Madison edges No. 3 Solon by two: Tripp 7th overall for boys

ANAMOSA – The Fort Madison girls continue to dominate southeast Iowa cross country events, capturing another first place in Anamosa Saturday morning northeast of Cedar Rapids.
The Bloodhounds are currently ranked 11th in the state in 3A according to the Iowa Assocation of Track Coaches' Sept. 24 rankings. Pella leads the state with Solon at 3rd and Clear Creek-Amana is in 5th.
Fort Madison edged Solon Saturday by two points 61 to 63 putting six runners in the top 17 on the morning.
Avery Rump continues to keep the Hounds in the top 10 individually with a 20:38.3, good enough for 8th place overall. Tipton’s Noelle Steines raced to the win with an 18.39.3.
The Lady Hounds' McKayla Schinstock was 11 seconds behind Rump with a 20:49.20 and Jordyn Marshall was just behind her with a 20:51.1 for 11th and 12th place, respectively. Mara Smith made it four Lady Hounds in the top 15 with a 14th-place finish at 21:05.8 and Addison Rump wrapped up the scoring runners with a 21:17.2, good enough for 16th place. Sophomore Ellie Hellman was five seconds behind Addison Rump at 21:22.1 for 17th overall and Ellie Huebner took 49th place with a 25:03.9.
The boys took 3rd place overall with 95 points. Riley Tripp led the way with a 7th-place overall finish at 17:51.0. Oelwein’s Conall Sauser captured the title with a 16:35.6. Payton Lambert was 16th overall with an 18:21.6 followed right behind by the Bloodhounds’ Mason McLey crossing the timer at 18:23.6 in 18th. Hunter Wiegand took 26th overall with a 18:49.4 and Calvin Johnson rounded out the scoring runners for Fort Madison with an 18:55.20.
Jacob Walker also ran for Fort Madison and clocked a 19:07.7 and then Jacob Shottenkirk with a 19:09.50 for a 34th.
