Gods Portion Day this Saturday in Denmark

Parade starts just before noon

DENMARK – This weekend marks the 76th Annual God’s Portion Day in Denmark.
The day will begin with the 10 a.m. church bell ringing and opening of vendor booths in the city park. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m.
The largest pumpkin and corn contest entries are due at the men’s booth by 10:30 a.m.
After the parade, the Fort Madison Middle School band plays in the park and then a chicken noodle or Maid Rite lunch either drive thru or walk-thru will be served with seating available in the park or inside the church. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
At 11:55 p.m., the winners of the pumpkin and corn contest will be announced and then the flag raising, prayer, and live auction will start in the shelter house.
Master of Ceremonies this year is Darrin Wright and the parade grand marshals are Dean and Sue Mabeus.
This year’s parade committee is comprised of Sarah and Nathan Weisinger, Lindsay and Jay Lampe, and Michelle and Ben Heckart. Treasurers are Whitney and Grant Weisinger and assistant treasurers are Stephanie and Jared Heckart.
