LEE COUNTY – Iowa State Patrol investigators have released the names and details of the accident Wednesday afternoon that claimed the lives of a Farmington couple.

The accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 218 and Hwy 103 (J40).

A 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Rose Marie Catherine Becker, 73, of Farmington was headed westbound on Hwy. 103. Becker was stopped at the intersection before pulling onto 218 to cross the highway when she was struck by a semi-trailer driven by Juan Julio Cavallini Ramirez, 53, of Red Oak, Texas.

The collision struck Becker’s vehicle in the driver’s side door and resulted in both vehicles coming to rest in the median facing northwest.

A passenger in Becker’s vehicle, Ross Wayne Becker, 75, of Farmington, was ejected from the vehicle. Both Beckers were killed as a result of the collision.

Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident. Reports show neither Becker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
