Parade, lunch, live auction highlight day's events

DENMARK - The 7th Annual God's Portion day will take place next Sunday Oct. 8 in Denmark.

Memory Walk displays will be open all days with vendor booths opening at 10 a.m. The annual GDP parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. and all largest pumpkin and corn entires are due to the men's booth by 10:30 a.m.

All parade entries will proceed to the west end of town by 10 a.m. Entries are asked to check in with parade leaders and the parade will move west along Hwy. 16. No entry forms are necessary.

Parade prizes will be available from the clerk at the auction at noon. Winner's must pick up prizes. Cash donations may be sent to the church in care of the God's Portion Day Commitee.

After the parade the Fort Madison Middle School band will perform in the park, and from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. a maidrite or chicken noodle lunch will be served as a walkup or drive thru at the church. Sawyer Circle is providing free coffee all day.

The largest pumpkin and corn contest winners will be announced at 11:55 a.m.. There will be a flag raising, prayer, and live action at the park shelter house.

Goods to be auctioned my be marked for the group you wish to receive the money - red for Plymouth Circule, yellow for Jolly 20 and blue for Sawyer Circle.

There will be a cash raffe with tickets at $50 each. Only 300 will be sold and seven $500 cash prizes will be awarded. Drawings will be held every half hour during the live auction and you do not need to be present to win.
